This java applet is an electrostatics demonstration which displays the electric field in a number of situations. You can select from a number of fields and see how particles move in the field if it is treated as either a velocity field (where the particles move along the field lines) or an actual force field (where the particles move as if they were charged particles). There are several ways for amateur scientists and students to visualize magnetic fields, including traditional compasses, iron filings, magnetic viewing film, or even ferrofluid. None of these methods give a comprehensive picture of the field over 3D volumes, however. While commercial devices for scanning 3D magnetic fields exist, their cost puts them out of reach of individuals and many.

- One strategy for reducing magnetic fields in a specific region is to make use of material properties for altering the spatial distribution of the magnetic field from a given source. A quantitative measure of the effectiveness of a passive shield in reducing the magnetic field magnitude is the shielding factor, s, defined as: Magnetic field shield.
AMPERES greatly expands design potential and allows you to simulate and optimize electromagnetic components and systems before the manufacturing stage. Avoid building multiple prototypes. Free online simulation resource provides fast results with high accuracy and configurability for magnetic position sensor design, covering linear and rotary modes of operation
Tessenderlo, Belgium, 1 July 2021 - Melexis has introduced a free, online simulation tool for magnetic sensor evaluation and module design. The online tool gives customers’ engineering teams the ability to design and simulate their own magnets based on Melexis’ Triaxis® 2D/3D sensors. By using the simulation application, engineers can quickly design a custom magnetic sensor module to their own specification.
Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, has developed a free online simulation application for its Triaxis® range of magnetic sensors, covering both linear and rotary applications. It simulates the sensor’s performance in a customer’s application with a high level of accuracy, including stray field immunity. Simulation with this level of accuracy can significantly improve and accelerate the design cycle of sensor modules.

“Simulation software has become an incredibly powerful and useful resource for engineering teams,” commented Jerome Degois, Regional Marketing Manager at Melexis. “Melexis has developed this online simulator to give customers fast, accurate results at the earliest possible stage in a project’s design. It delivers greater accuracy than other simulators, as it has been specifically developed to simulate how the Triaxis® 2D/3D magnetic sensor will react when used with a wide variety of magnets.”
Simulating multipole magnets is not simple, as it involves complex physics. As a result, simulators with this level of functionality are not generally available from manufacturers at no cost. Melexis has taken the decision to make its simulation tool free to use and include as much simulation capability as possible. This makes it much more complete than competitors’ tools, as it provides results that are closer to how a real sensor would perform.
The online simulation tool covers mechanical and magnetic design, for both linear and rotary modes of operation with or without stray field immunity factored in. No other free-to-use simulation tool can match these features. The tool also supports real-time design by providing results as soon as any parameter is modified. Based on the Streamlit framework and the Python library for analytical formulas for simple magnetic shapes (magpylib), Melexis has extended this foundation to create a catalogue of magnets that customers can use to develop and simulate their own unique applications.

The simulation tool will be live and free to use from July 1st 2021.
