This is a message a friend of mine gets and I'm posting it for her (really, it's not a problem I'm having ).
This occurs when she has 2 excel files open (nothing else running) and is copying about 70 rows of data from one file and pasting in the other file (very small amount of data). It starts by taking a few moments to do the pasting, then sloooowly pastes some of the data and then before it finishes the program hangs up for 5+ minutes and she has to force quit. All updates are installed and this is excel 2008. She has a MB 13', 2.13GHz, 2GB RAM, OS 10.6.x, 160GB HDD. (HDD is not even close to full)
Any suggestions?? Thanks as always for the help.

  • When I open Microsoft Excel regardless of whether I open a document or just open the program, I get a message saying 'Not Enough Memory' and am unable to open any documents. Please help me, I'm not good with computers haha.
  • Memory (RAM) and storage (hard disk / SSD) are not related to one another. That Mac has plenty of available storage. If you are running low on memory Activity Monitor can be used to identify the memory-intensive processes causing that warning. To learn how to use Activity Monitor please read the Activity Monitor User Guide.

Not Enough Memory Excel Mac

Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011 was crashing whenever I attempted to open it on a MacBook Pro laptop I use. Whenever I attempted to reopen it, I would be presented one by one with files to reopen that had been open when it crashed. A friend of mine just bought an MBA. He installed Office 2011 in order to work mainly with Excel. As he opened one of his file (6.5MB - multiple sheets - company logo - no graphs) and wanted to save it this box appears: where you can read something like Not enough memory. I have Office 2008 for Mac. Prior to yesterday morning, I had no issues with Excel or Word. They are all that I use from Office. I tried to open Excel yesterday and I am getting the message 'not enough memory.' I now get it for both Excel and Word. I don't understand how this can be. I have very few documents saved to Word and Excel.
